Minehead is the perfect place from which to explore the South West Coastal Path, Exmoor and the surrounding area. The town centre has many pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance of Butlins. For a very good carvery or pub meal, we recommend The Hairy Dog on Minehead High Street which has a fantastic outdoor play area for the kids. Nearby serves an excellent A La Carte menu with a very warm welcome from the owners Ashley and Wendy Bale.
For sports fans,The Queen's Hall on the promenade has a 26' TV screen and shows all the major events. It also serves food.
In the town centre there is a good selection of shops and a large market twice a week during the high season. Of course there is also a beautiful sandy beach on the doorstep, and the lovely harbour. Why not visit the pub by the harbour and sit outside watching the boats.
Minehead is on the edge of Exmoor and is the home of many beautiful villages such as Porlock and Dunster. If you like walking, the South West Coast Path will take you along North Hill towards Porlock.
The West Somerset steam railway runs from Minehead along the coast and then inland to Bishops Lydeard and is a wonderful way to spend a nostalgic few hours.
